Forecasting Fish Kill in Anyang Stream

Centennial Technology successfully forecasted the fish kill in Anyang Stream on June 9, 2006. Automated water quality monitoring station detected drastic dissolved oxygen decrease after a rainfall in the afternoon, and gave an alarm to headquarter. CT urgently sent verbal reports, telefax and SMS messages of early warning to Clean Water Management Division of Gyeonggi Province (http://english.gg.go.kr/) and Disaster Prevention and Safety Division of Anyang City (http://en.anyang.hanainfo.com/), individually. One hour later, Anyang City received a verbal report of dead and dying fish in the stream. CT indicated that biological, hydrological, meteorological, and water quality degradation due to nonpoint sources were associated with the die-off of several thousand fish in Anyang stream.
