Fish kill was successfully forecasted again in Anyang Stream on May 9, 2006. The alarm was raised when drastic dissolved oxygen decrease was found after a rainfall in the afternoon. CT urgently sent verbal reports, telefax and SMS messages of early warning to Gyeonggi Province and Anyang City.
Hundreds of dead fish were found in the stream in the morning. The mechanism of fish kill in urban stream was elucidated through continuous water quality monitoring and stressor identification process. It was found that fish kill events in naturalized streams were closely related with the decrease of stream flow, high nutrient concentrations, active growth of aquatic plants and benthic algae, the change of rainfall patterns, stormwater runoff, etc.
